CORE FACILITIES & SERVICES OVERVIEW
Over the past 15 years CMMT has continued to expand its research laboratories and equip them with state-of-the-art technology. Essential to the vision of CMMT is the creation, maintenance, and constant enhancement of an outstanding research environment. CMMT achieves these goals by operating on the principle of shared access and collaborative use of all equipment and resources, the establishment of core service facilities, and the provision of a core of experienced administrators to manage operations, human resources, finances, communications, and IT services.
With collaboration and sharing at the heart of CMMT's research culture, the services of CMMT's core facilities are also offered to and actively utilized by researchers in the wider research community. CMMT's unique combination of facilities, resources, and staff create a supportive and collaborative research environment that is key to the success of our research programs.
Bioanalyzer This core facility provides researchers at CMMT, CFRI and within the Greater Vancouver community access to the microfluidics-based functionality of the Bioanalyzer from Agilent Technologies.
Computing CMMT's information technology group provides network and server support for laboratory computing and runs the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI)-funded Gene Regulation Bioinformatics Laboratory (GRBL).
Genotyping The CMMT Genotyping Core Facility provides high-throughput genotyping, and DNA purification services to researchers in the academic, industrial, and pharmaceutical communities.
Gene Expression Profiling CMMT's gene expression profiling services uses Illumina technology to deliver the latest high-performance arrays. Illumina arrays interrogate multiple whole genomes or focused sets of target genes across large sample populations with low cost per sample.
Sequencing We offer access to automated DNA sequencing and DNA fragment analysis services on an ABI 3130xl 16-capillary genetic analyzer, with results typically available in one to two business days.

MAPS and Mouse Core Our Mouse Animal Production Service (MAPS) is set up to perform Embryonic Stem cell microinjections to generate chimeras for researchers from any institution. Related services include providing untargeted ES cell lines, generating Mouse Embryonic Fibroblasts (MEFs), and other cell culture related projects. In addition, we perform in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other strain recovery services, as well cryopreserve in-house strains. Finally, we are delighted to discuss custom work.
Mouse Behaviour The Suite for the Analysis of Mouse Behaviour provides access to a wide array of systems for the phenotypic characterization of large numbers of transgenic mice using standardized behavioural protocols.
LETAM-HD The Laboratory for Experimental Therapeutics in Animal Models of Human Disease is dedicated to high-throughput screening of novel therapeutics in transgenic mice.
Scientific Store To meet the need for immediate access to common lab reagents, CMMT operates an on-site stockroom that carries common consumables from vendors such as ThermoFisher, VWR Scientific, IDT for custom DNA oligos, Diamed Scientific, and Rainin, as well as a wide selection of reagents on consignment from Invitrogen, Qiagen, Roche, Promega, Pierce, Hyclone, and BioRad Laboratories.
Shared Resources The CMMT encourages a collaborative approach to research through its equipment sharing program. At CMMT, resources ranging from microscopes to imaging systems and spectrophotometers are shared among labs.
